Afternoon Activities

 

Always Available Camping at Pine Valley means you’ll never have a lack of fun. During designated afternoon activity time or any other time where you have a few extra moments during the day, enjoy horseshoes, gaga ball, 9 Square in the Air, outdoor basketball, sand volleyball, hiking trails, soccer, and football. Additionally, adults can check out keys and equipment for our tire swing, game room, disc golf, yard games, and scavenger hunt.

 

Archery Whether or not you have target practice scheduled as a class, adding archery to afternoon activity time will allow students to further build their marksmanship.

 

Arrow Tag Take archery to a new level. With specifically-designed arrows and safety gear, participants can battle in this unique activity.

 

Field Games Join our staff for a variety of fun on the field. This could mean wacky relays, kajabi can-can, or finger rocket battles. 

 

Human Foosball Everyone’s favorite miniaturized soccer game has been blown up again in a new way. Participants have the same parameters that the figurines do- playing only as far as they can reach while holding onto their line. This is a great competition to work together as a team while still showcasing individual strengths.

 

Laser Tag For a high-energy activity, set your blasters to ‘fun’! Using our high-tech equipment, teams will have the opportunity to play a variety of laser tag games, from free-for-all to multi-team matches.

 

Nature Hike Pine Valley is blessed to be surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest, and we have a network of secluded trails right behind camp. Reserve a time for a guided hike with one of our staff members or visit our office for trail information to take a self-guided hike. 

 

Pine Climb Climbers and adventurers will love Pine Valley’s newest addition. Picture a rock climbing wall, but instead of a wall, you will use rock climbing holds to climb a tree up to over 40 feet. With multiple rock climbing trees of various difficulties, participants can climb alongside their friends.

 

Teacher Time Some schools like having extra time to work on projects or do activities together led by school leaders without Pine Valley staff. If you would like Teacher Time in the afternoon, we can help provide you with an indoor meeting space or reserve the outside area of your choice.

 

Zipline The most popular activity on our ropes course is the zipline. Climb to new heights, then transfer to a thrilling ride back to the ground.

 

Shops

A selection of our shops will be open during afternoon activity time. The exact shops will depend on the number of campers as well as teachers’ selections. Shops can also be opened in the morning or evening with a teacher’s request in advance.

 

Coffee Shop If you need a morning pick-me-up or a jolt of afternoon caffeine to get you through busy days of outdoor ed, the Altitude Café is here for you. For the kids, we also have a selection of smoothies, Italian sodas, and other frozen and hot concoctions.

 

Gift Shop Pine Valley’s Elevation Gift Shop is the go-to place for snacks, bottled beverages, and all kinds of souvenirs to remind you of your camp experience.

 

Grill The Summit Grill offers more than just burgers, hot dogs, and foods off the grill. Get a side of fries or onion rings, or satisfy your sweet tooth with ice cream cones, sundaes, and shave ice.

 

Ice Cream Shoppe Satisfy your sweet tooth at the Summit Ice Cream Shoppe. Enjoy a treat like a soda, float, or sundae in any of our frosty flavors.

 

Kids Kafé Our newest shop offering allows anyone to relax and enjoy the atmosphere at Altitude Kids Kafé. Every drink on the menu is made without coffee, such as cream frappes, Italian sodas, smoothies, and hot beverages. (Adults can still order espresso drinks.)

Evening Activities

Campfire What’s camp without a campfire? Our staff will select a fire circle that best fits your group’s needs and set the fire ablaze. You can choose if you’d like your campfire to come with or without s’mores; we’ll supply the needed ingredients.

 

Hangout Night Need a relaxing night? Bust out our board games or head to our game room to enjoy an evening that can also include our café, gift shop, ice cream shoppe, or grill. For those who have had too much camp fun, this is also a great night to turn in early to prepare for another full day of fun. 

 

Hayride Take in the views throughout camp and the surrounding area on our beautiful tractor-pulled hayracks. Along the way, sit back on your hay bale and enjoy the Western-themed playlist.

Night Hike This is not your ordinary walk along a nature path! Learn about the natural area and the adaptations our local fauna have to thrive in it. You’ll also learn about your own night vision with a series of activities, from a colorblind test to a tasty, sparking experiment of triboluminescence!

 

Performance Night Students (and maybe even some adults) will have the opportunity to shine in the limelight as they perform in skits and other onstage antics. While this can be done as a standalone activity, it is highly recommended to be used in conjunction with our theatrics class so that students have the opportunity to practice together and learn practical acting tips.

Get the inside scoop on where we live, what we do outside of camp, how we learned about science, and more when you ask our panel of experts your burning questions.

If you would like extra Teacher Time after Super Science, we can help provide you with an indoor meeting space or reserve the outside area of your choice.

 

Wacky Relays You won’t know what’s coming next with these evening games! It could be inside or outside. You could be playing a variety of relays you never heard of, such as Dress Like a Doctor, Extreme Charades, Attack of the Pool Noodles, or the famous Rock, Paper, Scissors Relay. Expect the unexpected, and expect it all to be wacky!

 

Winter Only: Camp Christmas Exclusive On weekends in November and December, our camp transforms into Camp Christmas, a winter wonderland filled with light shows, holiday displays, and so much music. If your school books in November or December, you have the option to select a private weeknight of Camp Christmas just for your class.
